The Padmasambhava Association - Who Was Padmasambhava?
Padmasambhava - also known as Guru Padmasambhava, or Guru Rimpoche - and referred to by some as the "Second Buddha" - remains one of the most important spiritual figures in the history of Tibetan Buddhism, and Buddhism in general.
It is said he was born by appearing miraculously in the centre of a lotus blossom, and there are a great many other stories still told about him, his teachings and his disciples.
Born in India in the 8th century, he travelled to Tibet and established Tantric Buddhism there, building the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet - Samyey monastery - where he inaugurated Tibet's first monks and translated many important Buddhist texts into Tibetan.
He is such an influential spiritual figure in Tibetan tradition that it is said to this day that he hid many important secret treasures and texts in lakes, caves, woods and fields, many of which have yet to be found, and will each be found, in turn, when humanity is ready to find them and learn from them. The famous 'Tibetan Book of the Dead' is but one example of these treasures which was already found - since according to legend it was originally hidden by Guru Padmasambhava then discovered centuries later when the time was right.
The Padmasambhava Association was named after Guru Padmasambhava because he is the father of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism, of which Tibetan Pulsing Yoga is a modern branch.
